About the Institute

Mission  

The park's primary task is to protect natural and cultural values. We care for cultural and nature conservation awareness of residents and visitors of the park. We encourage innovative, sustainable and thoughtful tourist development in the region. 

Vision  

We aim to become the most successful Slovenian natural park and a world-renowned protected area that is a source of pride for local residents. 

Goals  

• Primarily protect habitat types and endangered species based on regular monitoring and rapid response to results.
• Prevent negative interventions and environmental impacts, and reduce the impact of already implemented unsuitable interventions.
• Through the established guiding infrastructure and guiding and supervisory services, direct visitors to less sensitive areas of the park.
• Become a pilot area for showcasing good practices in nature conservation.
• Establish a knowledge center that, through educational content, will attract young people from all over the world and at the same time attract the best researchers.
• Maintain a motivating working environment for employees and enable them to undertake additional education and training.
• Raise the park's profile and recognition, especially among the local public.
• Permanently educate and raise public awareness of nature conservation.
• In cooperation with key stakeholders, formulate a program for the region's development through the use of ecosystem services.
• Establish a joint brand for Notranjska park, and within this unify the park infrastructure arrangement and the labeling of products and services from the park area.
• Expansion of the protected natural area and establishment of a national park.
