Permitted vessel types and their drives
The following types of vessels may be used within the navigation area:
- rowing boats up to 6 m in length and 1.8 m in width,
- kayaks, canoes, sailing boats, all types of surfs,
- electric powered boats (exclusively for the needs of fish management),
- traditional vessels.
Motorised vessels are permitted for the needs of performing public services as defined by the Water Act, i.e. protecting waters, enforcing water rights, saving people, animals and property, performing tasks carried out by the police or in the name of national defence (source: Decree on Waterways Navigation on Lake Cerknica, No. 007-0006/2015).

A-CENTRAL NAVIGATION AREA
The central navigation area covers the area between Jamski zaliv, Rešeto, the bridge on the road Dolenje Jezero – Gorica, the area between Vodonos and the imaginary line that connects Slivnica to the bridge near Otok, and the area known as Zadnji kraj. Navigation in the central area is no longer permitted once the water levels on the water height gauge at Dolenje Jezero drop below 150 cm.

B-AREA OF RESTRICTED NAVIGATION
The entire eastern part of Lake Cerknica is an area of restricted navigation.
In area B navigation is forbidden between 1st March and 15th June, i.e. during the bird nesting season, and permitted once the water levels on the water height gauge at Dolenje Jezero reach above 320 cm. Navigation along the stream Stržen in area B is permitted as long as the water height on the water height gauge at Gorenje Jezero remains above 100 cm.
Quiet zone
During the birds' nesting periods, a quiet zone is established in the narrower parts of Lake Cerknica. This allows birds to nest peacefully, without major disturbances from visitor activities.
- No boating in area B: from 1 March to 15 June during the birds' nesting season.
- Quiet zone for Great bittern (Botaurus stellaris) or fishing reserve: prohibition of sport fishing (the zone is marked and delimited with posts and a no-fishing symbol).
