Rugged route through the picturesque sunken valley with the Big and Small Natural Bridges (Veliki and Mali naravni most). The trail is only 5 km long if you start in the valley itself (parking lot by the Small Natural Bridge or by the hotel), but you can extend the trip to 19 km by starting at Dolenje Jezero.
If you begin in Dolenje Jezero (19 km trail), head towards Dolenja vas and keep left to reach the viewpoint over Lake Cerknica. From there, turn right towards the Rakov Škocjan valley. On the circular road through the valley, you can stop at Veliki and Mali naravni most (Big and Small Natural Bridge) and the ruins of the Church of St. Cantianus. The starting point can also be reached via the villages of Zelše, Podskrajnik, and Dolenja vas.
Alternatively, you can start from Podskrajnik, Zelše, or directly from the hotel parking lot in Rakov Škocjan. This shorter route (through Rakov Škocjan only, 5 km) leaves you with more time to admire the natural beauty of the valley.
