From the parking lot at Dolenje Jezero, set off toward Otok. At the start, the trail follows the Drvošec Educational Trail, where you can stop at one of the birdwatching hides or climb the Otočec observation tower. Continue cycling through the village of Otok, then turn right and follow the southern edge of Lake Cerknica, riding along the foothills of the Javorniki Hills. After about 10 km from Otok, you’ll reach the Cvinger viewpoint over Lake Cerknica. From here, turn left toward Rakov Škocjan, ride past the Little Natural Bridge, cross the Great Natural Bridge, then turn right and follow the circular trail back.
From Rakov Škocjan, continue toward Zelše, but before entering the village turn right and pass St. Volbenk’s Church, then continue to Dolenja vas. In the village, turn right at the fire station, cross the small bridge, and return to Dolenje Jezero.
The route is 29 km long – varied through Rakov Škocjan, but otherwise mostly flat.
Along the way, you’ll pass the Suhadolica karst spring, the Velika and Mala Karlovica sinkhole caves, the Great and Little Natural Bridges, the Zelše church, and many scenic viewpoints.
The trail is marked with a “Jezerko – the Lake Man” icon, which you can follow on the signs posted along the route.
