The starting point is the parking lot at the end of the village of Dolenje Jezero, from where you continue along the gravel road by the lake. After about a kilometer and a half, turn left at the crossroads toward the village of Otok. Along the way, you’ll have several opportunities to stop and admire Lake Cerknica, which offers a different view with every visit. This section of the trail also passes the foot of the Drvošec Trail, where you can stop at one of the two birdwatching hides or climb the Otočec observation tower.
From there, cycle through Otok – the only Slovenian village located on an island. About 500 meters after the village, turn right at the crossroads. After roughly four kilometers of cycling along the foot of the hills, turn right again and descend back to the starting point.
The trail is marked with frog pictograms, which you can follow on signposts along the entire route.
