Trail Drvošec GPX, Lake Cerknica, Slovenia

The Drvošec trail starts at the Rešeto swallets and finishes approximately 500 metres before the bridge in front of the village of Otok. It mainly goes through the forest and is 3.7 km long (one way), making it ideal for anyone (remember to wear appropriate hiking gear).

The trail is home to several educational points, enhancing the experience of exploring the pristine nature of Lake Cerknica. The observation platforms "Kuharca" and "Klejni vrh" along with the observation tower "Otočec" (10 metres high) offer the most valuable vistas of this karst phenomenon. The exceptional dimensions of the site can be easily viewed from these locations.

The trail is marked with a bird (bittern) icon, which you can follow on the markings on the pillars throughout the trail.

For a more engaging visit, we recommend you set off to explore the path with the Lakeside Adventure.

A map of all hiking trails in the mystical land of Lake Cerknica can be purchased at the Visitor Center Lake Cerknica at an affordable price of €2.00.

Accessible Tourism on the Drvošec Trail

Accessible parking:
At the end of the village of Dolenje Jezero there is a parking lot with three spaces reserved for people with disabilities.

Accessibility:
Wheelchair users can view the first part of the Drvošec path, which runs along a flat macadam road (if wheelchairs are adapted for such a surface) and from there view part of Lake Cerknica(or the swallow holes if the lake is dry) and at individual points read some information about the largest Slovenian lake and its surroundings.
The blind and partially sighted have the didactic points at the Kuharca observation platform (the first observation platform on the Drvošec path) adapted – descriptions are printed in Braille, and they can also try interesting tasks (feeling bark by touch, listening to the sounds of the lake...).

Adapted toilets:
The toilets in the Visitor Center Lake Cerknica are fully accessible for people with mobility impairments. They are located on the ground floor of the building.
