The Blue grašičar (Cyaniris semiargus) is among the larger butterflies in the Lycaenidae family. The upperside of the dark blue males' wings is adorned with black veins, and along the edge of his forewings and hindwings runs a narrow black band. The uniformly dark brown upperside of the females' wings shimmers with a metallic violet sheen. White-edged black spots, which are the same size on the forewings and hindwings, form a distinctive pattern on the gray-brown undersides of the wings in both sexes. The narrow band along the body on the underside of the wings is greenish-blue in color.

The Blue grašičar is a widely distributed and common butterfly species, which occurs from the sea to high mountains. We will most often observe it in flowering meadows and pastures, as well as in forest clearings.
