Green hairstreak (Callophrys rubi) is a small butterfly with a uniformly metallic green-colored underside of its wings. It is also the only butterfly in Slovenia that has the underside entirely green. The upperside of its wings is uniformly brown, also with a metallic sheen.

The Green Hairstreak is adapted to life in a wide range of habitats. It is found in meadows and forest clearings, in scrubland areas and marshy regions, and also in high-mountain meadows and on rocky slopes in sheltered positions above the treeline. Its caterpillars can be very different in color, ranging from green to reddish-brown shades. A distinctive feature of its pupa is the production of sounds by rubbing the abdominal segments (stridulation). Of course, mainly due to the size of the pupa, its sound production is very quiet.
