Ljubki modrin (Polyommatus amandus) sedi na cvetlici.

Wingspan: 28–36 mm
Period of emergence of butterflies: in one generation from May to July
Larval host plants: species from the pea genus (Vicia)

Ljubki modrin (Polyommatus amandus) is the largest among the species of this genus (Polyommatus). The upperside of the male's wings is deep blue, and at the outer edge of the forewings it has a vague, broad band of dark gray color. The dark gray color along the veins extends somewhat toward the inner part of the wings. The upperside of the wings in the female is dark brown with a slight bluish tint, along the trailing edge of the hindwings it has orange crescent-shaped spots. The basic color of the underside of the wings is gray in males, and gray-brown in females. The crescent-shaped orange spots on the underside of the hindwings, together with the black markings, give the appearance of eye spots.

Ljubki modrin is a butterfly with a wide distribution and can appear on meadows in warm habitats, often in damp areas where an abundance of larval host plants thrives, in relatively large numbers. From lowlands to high mountainous regions it occurs on grassy areas that interweave with shrubs or sparse groves, but in higher-lying areas it remains in sheltered habitats.
