Robidov livadar

Robidov livadar (Brenthis daphne) sedi na roži.

Wingspan: 37–50 mm
Flight period: in one generation from May to August
Larval food plants: brambles (Rubus spp.)

The bramble fritillary (Brenthis daphne) is somewhat larger and lighter than the other two fritillary species that also live here. The color and pattern of the upperside of its wings are very similar to the pattern of the marsh fritillary, but a part of the wings near the body of the female bramble fritillary is not darkly colored. The outer part of the underside of the hindwings of the bramble fritillary is adorned with spots in pink to purple shades that blend into one another. The pattern of the false eyespots on this part of the wing is blurred. The veins on the underside of its wings are not distinctly and darkly emphasized, which is characteristic for a related species.

The bramble fritillary is quite a common species of butterfly that lives in forest clearings and shrubby slopes from the lowlands to the mid-mountains.
