The tench (Tinca tinca) inhabits standing waters and the lower parts of rivers and their dead arms. In Cerknica Lake it is common, where it can be found among dense aquatic vegetation. The tench is known for its ability to live for some time even with a lack of oxygen. It feeds on aquatic invertebrates. It is mainly threatened by river regulations.
