Spiders from the family Heteropodidae do not actively stalk prey, and they do not capture it even in skillfully woven nets; instead they wait for it in ambush on low vegetation. The female builds for herself a retreat and an egg sac from the leaves of a shrub or tree, which she connects with a silk thread, forming a spacious chamber where she hides from predators. In our region only one species from this family lives here, namely the green spider (Micrommata virescens or Micromatta roseum).
