Agricultural areas are areas that have arisen and are maintained due to the growing need for food. These areas are also called cultural landscapes, and this has been changing a lot recently. Over the past millennia, many animal species have adapted to this habitat, and the rapid changes of the last ten millennia threaten them greatly. These include pastures and some meadows, described in the chapter on meadows.
