Family: bellflowers (Campanulaceae)
Flowering time: May–July
Size: 30–100 cm
Habitat: sunlit forests, forest edges and among shrubs
The relatively slender, upright stem of the peach-leaved bellflower (Campanula persicifolia) is usually bare. The narrow, alternately arranged, sessile stem leaves are linear-lanceolate. Its basal leaves are broader, narrow-lanceolate to obovate-lanceolate, and at the base narrowed into a petiole. From three to eight flowers form a slightly loose inflorescence at the top of the stem. The broad-bell-shaped flowers are very large; the blue-violet corolla is typically 3 to 4 cm long.
The peach-leaved bellflower is widespread throughout Slovenia. It most often grows in partial shade on poor soils in warmer locations.
