Blue four-petaled flowers of Barrelier's speedwell (Veronica barrelieri ali Pseudolysimachion barrelieri) are arranged in a long and dense terminal inflorescence, which is usually unbranched. Its lanceolate stem leaves are opposite. The lower and middle leaves are coarsely toothed, the upper ones are entire. In Slovenia, two subspecies of Barrelier's speedwell occur. The stem of the first is bare in the upper part, while that of the second is fairly densely hairy, covered with straight protruding hairs. If we look at the flower of Barrelier's speedwell up close, we notice that the sepals are not covered with glandular hairs, but only with bristly hairs.
This species grows on dry, barren soils in sunny locations. It is common in the southwestern part of Slovenia, and its occurrences toward the north and east of the country are increasingly sparse.
