Slender speedwell (Veronica filiformis) is a perennial plant that sends up numerous slender, prostrate stems that root at the nodes and in this way forms dense carpets. The glandular-haired stem is leafy with petiolate rounded leaves, which are about as long as wide. The leaf margin is finely serrated, the leaf blade is sparsely hairy. Sky-blue flowers with a white center are adorned by dark blue veins. The diameter of the flowers is 8 to 14 mm, the pistil neck is 3 to 4 mm long. The flowering stalks are clothed with short glandular bracts. The flattened seed head is 4 to 5 mm wide and mostly sterile, i.e., seeds do not develop. The surface of the seed head is glandular.

Slender speedwell thrives on nutrient-rich moist soils in bright places. The native range of slender speedwell is the Caucasus region and Asia Minor. It was brought to Europe by humans; the first records of its occurrence in Slovenia are from the early 1970s. It is probably distributed scattered across Slovenia, but there is not much data about its occurrence in Slovenia.
