Illyrian eyebright (Euphrasia illyrica) is a small annual with lanceolate leaves that are at least twice as long as they are wide. The leaf edge is serrated, the teeth elongated into lobes. Toward the top of the stem, in the leaf axils, solitary bilabiate flowers develop. The pale violet to violet corolla of its flowers is 6 to 9 mm long. The surface of the fruit (heads) is mostly glabrous, only at the apex is short-haired – covered with a band of short hairs.

Illyrian eyebright thrives in sunny habitats, on more or less barren alkaline soils. Its distribution in Slovenia is limited to the submediterranean, i.e., the southwestern, part of the country.
