Habitat: swampy meadows, along water ditches and ponds
The hollow and bare stem of the common God's mercy (Gratiola officinalis) can be simple or branched. Sessile lanceolate leaves with serrated margins are opposite. Long-peduncled lateral flowers have pale pink corolla lips and a yellowish corolla tube. They emerge singly from the leaf axils of the stem leaves.
It is a highly poisonous perennial that thrives in lowlands on moist soils in sunny locations throughout Slovenia. In the Slovenian Red List of Plants it is listed as a vulnerable species.
