Family: figworts (Scrophulariaceae)
Flowering time: May–September

Habitat: slowly flowing waters, along streams and springs, and water ditches
Water speedwell (Veronica beccabunga) grows on permanently moist soils rich in nutrients. Its creeping, hairless stems root at the nodes, and the oval to nearly round fleshy leaves are opposite and petiolate. Blue flowers with a white center are grouped into racemes that rise from the leaf axils of the stem leaves.
Water speedwell thrives on the moist soils by the water's edge. In suitable habitats, it is found throughout Slovenia.
