Common cock's-foot (Dactylis glomerata) is a tufted perennial. Its stem is leafy with gray-green, up to 10 mm wide leaves. A 3–10 cm long inflorescence is characteristically club-shaped panicle, in which the spikelets on the side branches are strongly condensed (image). Spikelets are partial inflorescences, characteristic of the grass family; they consist of a varying number of inconspicuous flowers. The sharply keeled spikelets of common cock's-foot are multi-flowered and distinctly bilaterally flattened.
This species is widespread throughout Slovenia and belongs among the most common plant species here.
