The creeping stem of Lysimachia nummularia roots at the nodes. It has opposite, round to oval leaves with a blunt tip. The leaf blade of the short-petioled leaves is dotted with red speckled glands. It is up to 3 cm long. One or two five-petaled flowers develop on a long peduncle in the leaf axils in the middle part of the stem. The yellow, egg-shaped petals are 9 to 16 mm long. The green sepals are heart-shaped and speckled with red dots.
Grows on nitrogen-rich soils. With the exception of the Julian Alps, creeping Jenny occurs throughout Slovenia.
It is known for its use in relieving respiratory and digestive problems and for wound healing.
