Trobentica

Cvetovi trobentice (Primula vulgaris) od blizu.

Family: primroses (Primulaceae)
Flowering time: February–May
Size: 5–15 cm
Habitat: meadows, light forests, orchards and among shrubs

The common primrose (Primula vulgaris) is known to all by the name primrose. Its leaves form a basal rosette. Elongate to obovate leaves are narrowed into a winged petiole. They are up to 15 cm long. The distinctly reticulate-veined leaf surface has a coarse serrated edge. The flowering stalk is strongly shortened, therefore the inflorescence is actually basal. Pale yellow five-petaled flowers with a bright yellow throat develop on protruding pedicels, which are 5 to 15 cm long. The cup is attached to the tube of the tubular crown. Primrose has been widely used to relieve respiratory, circulatory, and digestive problems, as well as to relieve pain and to promote wound healing.

It grows on fresh, moderately rich soils throughout Slovenia.
