Broad-leaved water parsnip (Sium latifolium) is an amphibious plant that adapts to life on land or in water. The terrestrial form has lyrate leaves with serrate lanceolate segments, up to 10 cm long. The submerged leaves, however, are often dissected into threadlike segments. White flowers form a compound umbel. It is a poisonous plant.
It thrives in sunny habitats on moist soils rich in nutrients. In Slovenia it is quite rare and is listed in the Red List as a vulnerable species.
