Tevje (Hacquetia epipactis) blooms even before the trees leaf out, and its 'flower' merely pretends to be a flower. In fact, it is an inflorescence, which we call pacvet, and from afar it already attracts the attention of pollinators. In its center there are many small yellow flowers grouped into a dense umbel-like inflorescence, surrounded by large green involucral leaves. It is a characteristic plant of the Dinaric deciduous forests, growing throughout Slovenia.
