Kranjska kozja češnja (Rhamnus fallax) is a shrub that rarely grows higher than four metres. It is characterized by side shoots without thorns. Its shoots are leafy with large, 4 to 16 cm long glossy leaves, on which 10 to 20 pairs of lateral veins are clearly visible. In the leaf axils of the cauline leaves, inflorescences develop, consisting of small, usually four-petaled, green flowers. Mature fruits are spherical glossy black berries, up to 10 mm in diameter.
In Slovenia it is distributed in the hilly regions of the Dinaric world, in the mountainous realm and in the Drava River valley; elsewhere we will not encounter it.
