Dog's tooth (Erythronium dens–canis) is a perennial, adorned with a single six-petaled, sickle-shaped flower. The crimson petals are folded back. Two petiolate, lanceolate basal leaves are usually present. They are opposite and toothed. The rhizome is similar to the dog's tooth. Dog's tooth flowers in early spring in bright forests throughout Slovenia, but in regions where its rocky substrate does not suit it, we will search in vain.

In Slovenia, the dog's tooth is protected; as a vulnerable species it is also included in the Slovenian Red List of endangered plants.
