Heart-leaved nightshade

Srčastolistna mračica (Globularia cordifolia) v času cvetenja na naravnem rastišču.

Family: globularias (Globulariaceae)
Flowering time: May–July
Size: 3–10 cm
Habitat: rocky terrain, rock crevices, stony meadows

Heart-leaved globularia (Globularia cordifolia) is a subshrub with a woody creeping stem. The spatulate basal leaves are glabrous and leathery. They are 1 to 3 cm long. The flowering stem is leafless, and at most two scaly leaves develop on it. At the top of the flowering stem there is a many-flowered, head-shaped inflorescence of violet-blue flowers, which measures 1 to 1.5 cm in diameter.

Heart-leaved globularia grows mainly in higher elevations, where in rocky places it forms true carpets. In the northeastern part of the country it does not occur; elsewhere it is widespread throughout Slovenia.
