Common Snowdrop (Galanthus nivalis) tends to grow in larger groups, and soon after the last snow retreats, it again brightens the edges of forests, orchards, and similar habitats in partial shade. Two grey-green linear basal leaves emerge from the bulb, the leafless stem bears a bell-shaped flower, which opens early in spring. The outer petals are completely white, the inner ones are shorter and have a green patch at the tip in the shape of an inverted V.
It grows on moist, nutrient-rich soils throughout Slovenia. In our country it is a protected species that may be collected for bouquets, while the underground parts may not be dug up.
