British elecampane (Inula britannica) is a very noticeable plant with its 3–5 cm wide heads, formed from tubular and ligulate yellow flowers. The awl-shaped leaves and stem are usually densely covered with soft appressed hairs. Crushed leaves smell of garlic. It thrives in warm locations on moist alkaline soils. It is scattered throughout Slovenia, except in its northwestern part.
