Fuchsov grint (Senecio ovatus) is a tall plant with an upright, green to reddish stem that is bare to sparsely hairy. The stem is evenly leaved with alternately arranged lanceolate leaves with finely serrated leaf margins. The upper stem leaves are pedicled or sessile, but then always with a distinctly narrowed leaf base. At the top the stem branches and is adorned with numerous bright yellow heads with 4 to 8 (usually 5) ligulate flowers. Heads measure 2.5 to 3 cm in diameter. Although the heads and their peduncles can be bare or hairy, Fuchs's grint in the flowering region never has developed glandular hairs!
Fuchsov grint is a poisonous plant that grows on moist, nitrogen-rich soils, preferably in partial shade. In Slovenia it is widely distributed and a common species, encountered less frequently only in Pomurje.
