Family: composites (Asteraceae)
Flowering time: July–September
Size: 15–60 cm
Habitat: marsh meadows, ditches, wet shrubbery
The stem of water-groundsel (Senecio aquaticus agg.), which is only at the top protruding, bears many golden-yellow heads. Basal leaves are still green when flowering. It thrives only on wet soils. Except for the Alps, it is widely distributed throughout Slovenia. Because we know several closely related species that are difficult to distinguish, they are grouped into a group or aggregate, which is indicated by the abbreviation agg. after the scientific name.
