Alpine club-rush (Trichophorum alpinum) is a small perennial with short stolons, from which it forms a tussock. The erect gray-green stem is three-angled and rough. At the top of the stem 8 to 12 flowers form a small inflorescence, which is 5 to 7 mm long and only 3 mm wide. The shiny white bristles of the floral envelope extend during ripening and make the inflorescence noticeable. Alpine club-rush thrives on permanently moist, bare soils, preferring slightly higher elevations. Like its habitats, the alpine club-rush in Slovenia is not very common and is defined as a vulnerable species on the Slovenian Red List.
It is found in some parts of the interior of Slovenia and in the alpine and subalpine regions.
