Habitat: standing and slowly flowing water
Branched milfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum) is an aquatic plant with a branched submerged stem. Leaves are finely divided, thread-like, arranged in whorls, with four leaves at each node. During flowering an upright inflorescence rises above the water surface, consisting of small, four-merous pink flowers. The bracts supporting the flowers are usually shorter than the flowers.
The species is absent from the mountainous region in our country; otherwise it can be found here and there throughout Slovenia. In our country it is regarded as a vulnerable species.
