Ordinary stick

Cvetoč navadni strček (Aremonia agrimonoides) na gozdnih tleh.

Family: roses (Rosaceae)
Blooming time: May–July
Size: 5 – 20 cm
Habitat: deciduous forests

The erect stem of the common strček (Aremonia agrimonoides) is densely covered with long soft hairs and leafy with up to three leaves. Also the 10 to 15 cm long basal leaves, which form the basal rosette, are hairy. The Lihopernate basal leaves consist of oval serrated leaflets, among which there are also small entire leaflets. At the top of the stem a few-flowered inflorescence develops. For the small flowers of strček, only two carpels are characteristic and two rows of sepals are arranged. Its bright yellow petals are 3 to 4 mm long.

Strček typically thrives in the shelter of deciduous forests on moist soils rich in humus. With the exception of Pomurje, where it has not yet been found, it is common throughout Slovenia.
