Five-parted leaves of the white cinquefoil (Potentilla alba) grow 10 to 20 cm tall. The upper side is dark green, the underside is silver-white due to dense silky hairs. Lanceolate leaflets are up to 10 cm long and up to 2 cm wide, their margins have only a few small teeth at the tip. The white flowers are 15 to 25 mm wide and form very loose, 2- to 5-flowered inflorescences. The snow-white petals, heart-shaped, are only slightly longer than the green sepals. The trailing, delicate flowering stem of the white cinquefoil is up to 8 cm long and never taller than the leaves. The white cinquefoil is common only in the southwestern part of Slovenia, elsewhere in the country it is quite rare.
