Hardy silverfish

The tall stem of the hardy Lunaria rediviva is leafy with petiolate heart-shaped leaves. The lower leaves are the largest, toward the top of the stem the leaves become smaller. The margin of the leaf blade is irregularly toothed. In the upper part the stem is branched, at the tips of the shoots lilac, pale purple or white flowers bloom. The bracts of the strongly fragrant flowers are 20 to 30 mm long. The 5 to 8 cm long elliptical fruits of Lunaria are pointed at both ends. When dried, they become whitish and acquire a silver sheen.

It is widespread throughout Slovenia, but it thrives only at higher elevations.
