Marsh self-pollinator (Parnassia palustris) is a perennial that thrives in moist soils. Its long-stalked basal leaves form a rosette of leaves, and on the stem it has one single, sessile heart-shaped leaf. At the top of the stem, a single five-petaled flower develops. The white-veined leaves are adorned with a pattern of arcuately arranged veins. It grows on sites with low nutrient content in sunny locations throughout Slovenia. It is more common in the northwest part of the country.
