Šmarnica (Convallaria majalis) ima navadno dva široka, suličasta lista in bele zvončaste cvetove.

Family: lily-of-the-valley family (Convallariaceae)
Blooming period: May–June
Size: 10–25 cm
Habitat: deciduous and mixed forests

Lily-of-the-valley (Convallaria majalis) usually has two broad, lanceolate leaves. Intensely fragrant, bell-shaped flowers form a one-sided cluster. The fruits are round, glossy red berries. The plant is extremely poisonous and before flowering it can be mistaken for the edible ramsons, which, however, smell distinctly of garlic. It thrives in semi-shaded deciduous forests on alkaline soils throughout Slovenia.

Lily-of-the-valley is a protected species here, but we may pick it for a bouquet.
