Two-leaved Solomon's-seal (Maianthemum bifolium) is a small plant that hides a creeping rhizome in the soil and grows in small groups. The erect, flowering stem is usually leafed with two short-petiolate heart-shaped leaves. Non-flowering – barren shoots, however, have only one such leaf. Its four-part, fragrant white flowers are 4 to 6 mm wide. They are arranged in a terminal umbrella-like inflorescence. The mature fruits are pink berries speckled with numerous red spots of irregular shapes. Two-leaved Solomon's-seal is a poisonous plant. It thrives on acidic soils rich in humus in the shade of forests.
It is widespread and common throughout Slovenia.
