Cvetoči gomoljasti gabez (Symphytum tuberosum) med travo.

Family: borage family (Boraginaceae)
Flowering time: April–June
Size: 20–50 cm
Habitat: forests, forest edges, among shrubs, hedges

Tuberous comfrey (Symphytum tuberosum) from a fleshy rhizome sends up a soft, erect stem covered with bristly hairs. The stem is leafy with 5 to 7 oblong-ovate leaves, which are covered with stiff hairs. Soft-haired, entire leaves at the base quickly narrow into a short petiole. At the top of the stem, around 10 pedicellate, curved flowers of pale yellow color form the inflorescence. The perianth leaves have grown into a tubular crown, which is 1.5 to 2 cm long. The corona folds are rolled back.

The tuberous comfrey is a common and widely distributed plant in Slovenia.
