The stem of rock saxifrage (Saxifraga petraea) is slender; only the flowering stems are erect. It is a delicate biennial with white five-petaled flowers and crenate semicircular leaves on long stalks. It thrives in partial shade, on moderately moist calcareous soils. It occurs scattered throughout Slovenia, more common in the northwestern part.
