Grandiflora selfheal (Prunella grandiflora) is a herbaceous perennial without stolons (lateral shoots). The stem is leafy with two to six pairs of ovate to lanceolate leaves. Oppositely arranged leaves are entire, often toothed with some irregular teeth. For grandiflora selfheal, it is characteristic that the upper pair of stem leaves sits a few centimeters below the inflorescence. Its dense bracted inflorescence consists of large, 20 to 25 mm long, purple flowers, which can sometimes also be lighter, pink or even white.

Grandiflora selfheal grows on dry barren soils, preferably in sunny places on a calcareous substrate. It is distributed throughout Slovenia, but not very common, and in Pomurje it is even very rare.
