Marsh woundwort (Stachys palustris) is a tall plant that has underground developed lateral shoots – rhizomes. The stem is leafy with opposite arranged lanceolate leaves with serrated leaf margins. The stem leaves with cordate bases are usually sessile. Leaves up to 3 cm wide may be hairy or smooth. Crushed leaves do not have a pronounced odor. Two-lipped pink flowers are about 15 mm long. They are arranged in whorls in the upper part of the stem. The teeth on the calyx leaves are sharp at flowering.

Marsh woundwort thrives on moist soils in bright places that are not mowed regularly or early in the season. Widespread throughout Slovenia.
