Painted zebras

Socvetje pisanega zebrata (Galeopsis speciosa) od blizu.

The bristly-haired stem of the showy zebra (Galeopsis speciosa) is distinctly thickened below the joints. Elliptic-lanceolate leaves are arranged crosswise. The sulfur-yellow two-lipped flowers have a violet blotch on the middle lobe of the lower lip. It thrives on nutrient-rich soils, often in places with greater human influence.

It grows best on fertile soils in forest clearings and forests. It is a common species found throughout Slovenia.
