The branched stem of the purple dead-nettle (Lamium purpureum) is bare. It is leafy with opposite, stalked, heart-shaped leaves. The leaf margin is coarsely toothed, the leaf blade is sparsely hairy. Its leaves and stem are especially purple in the upper part. The approximately 1 cm long bilabiate flowers of cyclamen color are arranged in whorls. They are concentrated at the top of the stem.
