Family: sedums (Crassulaceae)
Blooming time: July–August

Habitat: dry meadows, rocky areas

Six-angled stonecrop (Sedum sexangulare) is a small perennial that, in addition to flowering, also develops sterile shoots. Approximately 5 mm long, fleshy glabrous leaves are sausage-shaped. Yellow flowers about 1 cm across develop at the top of a densely leafy stem. In Slovenia it is a common and widely distributed species of dry and sunny places. A special way of photosynthesis enables sedums to achieve exceptional water-use efficiency, allowing them to thrive in extremely dry habitats.
