Spanish stonecrop (Sedum hispanicum) is an annual or biennial plant with six-petalled flowers. In the middle of white lanceolate bracts runs a red vein. Its succulent leaves are round in cross-section and taper toward the tip. It thrives at higher elevations, mainly in western and northern Slovenia. Stonecrops have developed a special form of photosynthesis that enables them to have an exceptionally high water-use efficiency and to live in very dry habitats.
