White homulica

Bela homulica (Sedum album) v času cvetenja.

Family: stonecrops (Crassulaceae)
Flowering time: June–August
Size: 8–20 cm
Habitat: gravel, rocky soils and dry meadows

White stonecrop (Sedum album) is a completely glabrous plant that covers dry soils with small mats. Its numerous non-flowering shoots are densely leaved with alternately arranged fleshy leaves. The narrow cylindrical leaves are round in cross-section; they are 7 to 20 mm long. At the tip of sparsely leaved flowering shoots develops an inflorescence, consisting of numerous five-petaled flowers. The white, occasionally pale pink, petals are three times longer than the sepals. White stonecrop is a drought-tolerant evergreen plant species that grows on very poor soils in areas with pronounced sun. In Slovenia it is widespread in the Alpine, pre-Alpine and sub-Mediterranean regions, while in other parts of Slovenia it is absent or very rare.
