Nature photographer Vincent Munier, who took us to the Tibetan Plateau in The Velvet Queen in search of the elusive snow leopard, now invites us on an intimate journey through his native Vosges mountains, where we can immerse ourselves in the sounds, textures and scents of ancient forests. Story:
“To remain silent, to listen … and perhaps to see.” Nature photographer Vincent Munier invites us into the heart of the French Vosges, where his father Michel, a passionate protector of the forests, once introduced him to the art of observation. Now it is time for him to pass this knowledge on to Simon, Vincent’s son.
We follow three generations of the Munier family as they walk “on tiptoe” through the forest, patiently waiting for the moment when the leaves begin to rustle and an elusive creature emerges from behind the trees. In the evening, by candlelight, Michel tells his grandson stories: of his encounter with the rare capercaillie, or the one about the lynx.
