You are warmly invited to a practical demonstration of proper pruning and care of high-stem fruit trees, organised in cooperation with Kozjansko Regional Park. The event is intended for everyone who would like to better understand how to maintain healthy, productive and long-lived fruit trees.
Join us on Wednesday, 1. April 2026, at 13:00 at the orchard below the Mercator Center in Cerknica (Cesta 4. maja 4a, Cerknica).
During the workshop, an expert will present the basic principles of pruning high-stem fruit trees. The demonstration will show how to properly shape the tree canopy, explain why regular pruning is important for tree health, and how it helps promote fruit production and longevity of fruit trees.
High-stem orchards are an important part of our traditional cultural landscape and provide valuable habitat for many birds, pollinators and other wildlife. With appropriate management and care, we can preserve their vitality while also ensuring a high-quality fruit harvest. During the demonstration, participants will also learn how to identify damaged or unnecessary branches, when the most appropriate time for pruning is, and how to properly care for fruit trees throughout the year.
The event is an excellent opportunity to observe pruning techniques in practice, ask questions and gain useful advice for caring for fruit trees in your own garden or orchard.
